The K–12 Operating System Institute introduces another way of understanding the largely invisible operating system supporting students and the adults who serve them. 

Leaders develop a common language, shared mental models, and practical framework for understanding how the operating system influences organizational performance and long-term improvement.

Every community has an operating system. Few intentionally steward it.
