Why the Operating System?

Communities have long invested in improving instruction, leadership, governance, technology, student supports, and organizational effectiveness. Those investments remain essential.

We believe another equally important opportunity deserves greater attention: the Public K–12 Operating System.

The largely invisible operating system supporting those efforts should be intentionally understood, continuously updated, and stewarded over time.

As communities face increasingly complex expectations, building the capability to intentionally, coherently, and continuously modernize the operating system becomes an essential way to help students, educators, families, and community partners consistently experience the quality of public education they deserve.
