Why the Operating System?

Every organization operates through an interconnected set of structures, processes, relationships, and practices that influence how work gets done. Collectively, these components form its Operating System.

While strategic plans define what an organization hopes to accomplish, the Operating System determines how people work together to consistently achieve those outcomes. It influences how decisions are made, how work is coordinated, how services are delivered, how people are supported, and how culture is experienced throughout the organization.

 An effective Operating System does more than improve efficiency. It creates the conditions for people to experience safety, respect, and belonging while reducing the stress, frustration, exhaustion, and disconnection that can contribute to burnout and dysfunction. It enables people and organizations to  learn, perform, and adapt while creating the conditions for instructional programs and student supports to better meet each student's needs.
